About Me
Hi, I’m Andrea Cutler, PMHNP. I’m a psychiatric nurse practitioner offering integrative care for those who are navigating mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, and life transitions. I believe healing begins not with a prescription pad, but with presence. Being fully seen and understood in your story. My work combines thoughtful medication management with deep listening, pattern recognition, and a collaborative approach that honors your experience and goals.
Before becoming a psychiatric provider, I spent years working with children and families as a developmental therapist, making home visits, sitting on living room floors, listening to stories over kitchen tables. Those early experiences taught me something I’ve never forgotten: being invited into someone’s home, or someone’s pain, is a sacred privilege. I saw how complex life can be behind closed doors, how resilient people are in the face of hardship, and how healing begins when we feel truly met.
That same spirit carried into my work as a RN in hospice care, where I served patients and families in some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. I learned that even when we can’t take away suffering, we can offer empathy and compassion. We can’t heal all pain, but we can share it and make the burden lighter. Over time, I felt called to shift from physical health into mental health, knowing that emotional healing was just as vital, and often even more transformative.
When I began practicing psychiatry, I noticed something quickly: so many of the patients I saw had been misdiagnosed, misunderstood, or rushed through care. They were handed prescriptions without a full understanding of what was happening in their minds and bodies. I wanted to do things differently. To slow down, zoom out, and look for patterns, especially in those navigating bipolar spectrum disorders or panic that doesn’t respond to the usual treatments.
My work is shaped by more than just training, it’s shaped by life. I’m a mom to three daughters, a wife of over twenty years, a sister, and a woman of faith. Like many of my patients, I’ve walked through seasons of uncertainty and loss. My early twenties were marked by infertility, repeat pregnancy loss, and eventually IVF. Those experiences deepened my understanding of how personal and complicated healing can be. They taught me not to rush past pain or explain it away, but to meet it with compassion, presence, and honesty. That perspective helps me show up fully for my patients with steadiness, curiosity, and deep respect for whatever season they’re in.
Outside of work, you can find me walking my dog Nacho (who I lovingly refer to as my perpetually sleepy business partner), baking, hiking, or catching up with my girls about their day. I’m deeply involved in my church, and I honor both shared and differing beliefs in the therapy room. I believe every story matters, and if you’re here, it’s likely because you’re ready to write a new chapter in yours. I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
